Caitlyn & Larry are engaged

In the midst of all the rain we’ve had for what seems like forever, we had a rare beautiful day of weather for Caitlyn and Larry’s engagement photos.  We started out at the park down by their apartment which was the setting for Larry’s actual proposal, and then headed over to U of M’s campus for some shots as well.  I had so much fun with these two and I totally cannot wait for their wedding next June.  I mean, who wouldn’t want to work with a couple that were all for hopping in a fountain during their engagement shoot?  I had a hard time picking my favorites, and I hope you enjoy a little peek!

Genevieve & Ray’s E session

I know, I know, it’s been a while.  With my official start to wedding season taking place this coming Saturday, I figured I might as well squeeze a blog in this week before it becomes a pretty regular happening once again.

Genevieve and Ray are one of my 2011 couples and will be getting married in October.  I always feel very strange when I have gotten to know a bride so well and have heard so much about the man in her life, but have yet to meet him in person.  Getting a guy to take pictures and do it happily isn’t always the easiest thing, and then throwing a perfect stranger into the mix makes it even harder.  But Ray was such a good sport during the entire session, and had me cracking up for a good part of it.  This is why I love doing engagement sessions so much.  I love being able to go into one of the most intimate days of someone’s life and not feel out of place.  An engagement session before the big day helps me understand a couple and they get to know me too.  It also helps that I’ve had nothing but really amazing couples to work with too!

Beautiful Spaces

This is a post I have been waiting for with lots of giddy anticipation.  I absolutely love the fact that I am surrounded by so many incredibly talented and creative women, and I was honored when my friend Sarah Quint asked me to photograph some of her work for her up-and-coming website launch.  Sarah’s creativity in her home, even as a college student when we first met four years ago, has always amazed me.  Now, as a Certified Interior Decorator, she has continued to wow in the homes of many others.

So head on over to Sarah’s newly minted website here, and check out a range of services she offers.

sweet baby G

I’ve had a few blasts from the past lately.  It was great to see another high school classmate of mine as a new mom and her absolutely adorable little baby boy.  Congratulations Connie and Tim, and I hope you love the pictures!

Kelsey’s senior recital pics

It’s always a breath of fresh air to do a different photo shoot than what I am used to.  Kelsey was a high school classmate of mine, and I was happy to hear from her earlier this year and her need to have some photos done for her senior concert recital and nearing graduation from Bowling Green State University.  She’s an incredibly talented pianist and I was happy to reunite and get some awesome shots done.  When she wasn’t sure where to get access to a grand piano for the pictures, I knew I had the perfect solution.  I’m so happy to have access to my beautiful church that has some amazing architecture and huge windows, among other things!

Nika & John engagement photos

Nika and John braved the cold with me for a snowy engagement session, a few weeks ago, in Ann Arbor.  They were so much fun and braved not only the snow, but scary swans, and even had a snow ball fight and made snow angels.  I love the way these photos turned out but I also can’t wait to have much different weather for their wedding in July.

Nika has officially named this pose the “backpack” for me.  Love it lol!

Scary swans…

… smiling faces.  Mostly smiling at the scared photographer.

Kayla and Jake engagements

I met Kayla and Jake in their hometown of Blissfield for their engagement session and got a whirlwind tour of the town.  I have always loved Blissfield from my memories of antique shopping and eating at The Stable when I was younger and was happy to see more of the town.  Kayla and Jake will actually be having their reception at The Stable next September and their hometown as a whole plays an important role in their lives.  We even swung by the church where they will be getting married and snapped a few shots of them in the pews.

Kayla, I hope you enjoy these and I know you’ve been waiting oh so patiently!  I can’t wait to photograph your wonderful wedding next fall.
